Mills is a small Dutch nutrient line with a loyal following. The whole range is 5 bottles, each with a clear job, and that is the appeal. You do not need to build a shelf of additives to run it properly.
The range, and when each one goes in
- Basis A&B: the base. One A&B for growth and flowering, tested by Mills in soil, coco and hydro.
- Start-R: for seedlings, growth and early flowering. Humic and fulvic acids, amino acids and kelp, to get roots going.
- C4: a flowering stimulant for the early and middle weeks of flower.
- Ultimate PK: a phosphite-based PK for the last weeks of flower.
- Vitalize: stabilised silicic acid. Always goes in first. Mills gives 0.2mL/L in growth and 0.1mL/L late in flower, and 2.5mL/L when sprayed on the leaves every 7 days up to week 2 of flower.
The easy way in
The Mills Starter Pack holds Basis A and B (500mL each), Start-R, C4 and Ultimate PK (250mL each) and Vitalize (30mL). That is enough to learn the line before you commit to big bottles. A Mills drum tap fits the 5L and 20L containers.

Mills Nutrients questions
Do I need all 5 Mills products?
No. Basis A&B grows a full crop on its own, plus cal-mag if you grow in coco. Start-R and C4 are the next 2 worth adding. Ultimate PK has a short late window, so do not run it all the way through.
Can I use Mills Basis A&B in coco?
Yes. Mills says Basis A&B was tested in soil, coco and hydro. In coco, feed every watering and add cal-mag, because coco holds onto calcium.
Where is the Mills feed schedule?
Mills runs an online feed calculator on its own site. It works out doses by stage and volume. We suggest starting at 75% of its numbers and adjusting from your run-off EC.
Why does Vitalize go in first?
It is a silicic acid product, and silicon reacts with concentrated calcium and phosphate. Add it to plain water and stir before anything else, then add the base. Mills says this too.
