What microbes actually do
1
A root hair is half a millimetre
That is your entire root reach. Anything further out, your plant never gets.

The fungus goes where the root cannot
It grabs the root and grows past it. The plant pays in sugar, it brings back water and food.

You are buying a root system, not a booster
Roots reach further without the plant growing a single extra root.
Two ways growers waste this
One: it has to touch the root. In the hole at transplant, not dusted on top three weeks later. Two: it is alive, so hydrogen peroxide kills it. Do not run both in the same week.

Straight answers
When do I add it?
At transplant, in the hole, touching the root. Liquids can go in the feed after that. Sprinkling granules on an established pot does almost nothing, it never reaches the roots.
Can I run microbes with a synthetic feed?
Yes. All of these run alongside a normal mineral base. What kills them is peroxide, chlorine and sterilising agents, not your nutrient.
Do I still need a root stimulant?
Different job. A microbe extends the roots you have, a stimulant makes the plant grow more of them. They stack.
